A long awaited update

Sorry it's been so long.  Life caught up with me.  There are so many things I need to tell you all about!  Where to start...

Well, I guess I'll start with everyones favorite topic, AIDEN!

He's grown up way too much!  He had a check up the other day and has grown 1 inch and 1 pound in 3 months!!  We signed Aiden up for a first steps soccer program.  His first practice was last Saturday.  We were very impressed with how well he did.  He listen to the coach and Daniel very well.  He had so much fun!  It's a 6 week program with a game on the last day.  I got my video camera fixed just in time!

Aiden also started Preschool!  Well it's more like Pre preschool, 2 days a week for 2.5 hours.  I was really excited to get him back into something where he'd be playing with kids his age and learning new things!  First day of school I walked him to his class and he was ready to go in without saying goodbye or giving me a kiss.  Not only was I sad because my baby is so grown up, but I was so happy because he wasn't scared and felt very comfortable.  He's already made friends and comes home talking about them and can't wait to see them when we're on our way to school!  He has come home with only good reports!  Daniel and I chose this program because not only did we think it would be a good transition into a school routine but he will also be learning Japanese!  He can count to 5 already!  Twice a month his Japanese teachers aide teaches culture day where they will eat Japanese food, learn words, and songs, and do a Japanese craft!  We will definitely keep everyone posted on Aiden's new adventures in school!!

As for Daniel and I, we celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary!  I had my tonsils removed. Not fun at all!  I was down about ten days with no voice and then started feeling better and came down with a horrible cold that put me out about another week.  Daniel is now working weekends which kind of stinks, but he'll soon be on leave!

My jewelry has been accepted as a vendor in the on base gift shop!!  I'm totally excited about this!  I've had quite a few sales lately and am working on a custom order for a woman's wedding jewelry!!  5 bracelets, earrings and a necklace!  You should all check out Etsy, they make for great gifts!!

I'll leave you with some photos from the past 3 months!

A new love

It is the long awaited return to blogging!  Our Adventures slowed down a little.  First I'll give you a recap of what's gone on since my last post.

Wow!  I just looked to see how long it's been... almost 2 months!  Well, Daniel has been gone on 2 TDYs ( mini deployments),  I turned 27 (getting too close to 30), and Aiden turned 3!!  We've made new friends and reconnected with some old friends.  We've had an earthquake and a tropical depression, the weather is going to be "fun".  Aiden and I have been to the beach on every sunny day and we are soo tan!  My jewelry business with my has taken off, we had a huge success at an open house that a customer hosted and we are now working on getting our items in a local gift shop!!  I never thought anyone would like my "craft" so much!  I am shopping around for  preschool to get Aiden enrolled in this fall.  O and I'll be getting my tonsils out next month.  I think that pretty much sums up the everyday things.

Ok, so last Saturday our friends invited Aiden and I (Daniel was out of the country) to go paddle boarding.  I've wanted to try this out since we've arrive on island!  We packed a lunch, tent, and life jacket and hit the road.  We ended up driving about an hour and a half north.  Aiden did pretty good on the drive up.  It was a beautiful drive too!  Once we got about 3/4 of the way we went down some super survey roads.  There's this spot in the road where they have a musical note sign.  I'm you've heard of this... it's a musical road!  Highlight of the drive.  You slow down to 40km and make sure you put your windows down so you can hear it better.  I have no idea what the song was, because it was probably some Japanese song, but it definitely sounded like a tuba.  Really fun, I just wish I would have recorded it on my phone.  Guess we'll just have to make the trip again!

Now we've come to the coast line.  We're just trying to find a spot now.  Our friends want to find somewhere not too choppy and rocky.  Here's a spot with an entrance... I say entrance lightly.  There's a dirt path that look pretty clear.  So, we pull over to the side of the road to what looks like a dirt parking lot and make a mini trek down to the sand and water.

Beautiful ocean, but not another person Japanese or American in sight.  We set up "shop".  Aiden's ready to go!  Mom, I want my jacket please.  Ok let me get my camera!!!

Ok needless to say Aiden had a blast!  He called the board his boat.  He didn't want to get off, went out with our friend C 4 times!!  This didn't give C and J much time to go out without a toddler.  They were so patient with him and he was such a good listener!  We've made some great friends that don't have children and yet they don't mind when Aiden tags along.

So I got a turn... I love the water!  For some reason I was nervous out on the board.  I don't know why.  Either because I've never paddle boarded before or because we were in the middle of nowhere and who knows how many dangerous things were in there... probably both!  I tried, and I want to do it again.  I am determined to stand up on that board.  I just want to try it somewhere a little closer to civilization.

While waiting for Aiden to come in from the ocean I walked the beach.  This was a really pebbly beach and full of... you guessed it... Sea glass!!!

On the way home Aiden passed out within 10 minutes of driving, go figure!  He was pooped!  Tons of fun in the sun!

Here's a few photos from my blogging lull.

The new adventures of CTK moms

It seems that lately my friend Crystal and I see each other more than we see our husbands.  Thank you Air Force!  And because of this we don't want to sit around at home so, we've been taking our boys out and exploring Okinawa!

Our last adventure was the zoo... this time White Beach and Ikei Island!

White beach was planned.  Crystal read that White Beach was a great place to get Sea Glass!  Turns out it was better for sea shells on this day.

We packed up Crystal's car with a picnic and everything the boys might need at the beach.  Shovels, buckets, trucks...etc.  I guess it took us about 30 minutes to get here.  White Beach is on a navy installation.

White Beach is very large.  It has a camp ground where you can rent a camper (RV), grills, picnic tables, and a great playground.  There were also signs telling us to beware of jellyfish... swim at your own risk.  We did not swim here.  The boys loved the playground!  Crystal and I found tons of colorful seashells, which was exciting considering we usually find white ones and broken ones.  We walked the beach and ate lunch here and then decided that it was too hot not to swim.

On to our second adventure of the day... Ikei Island.  pronounced Ekai

We didn't have directions for this one.  My neighbor had told me about this place, but all she said was it was straight over the bridge.  Ok where's the bridge?  Signs in this country are far and few between.  We had to turn around a few times.  The boys had no idea what was going on.  Us girls on the other hand were dying laughing.  Finally, a bridge... is it the right one.  Turns out it was... we saw a sign!

So over 2 bridges and through 2 "tunnels".  We made it!!!  Parked the car and entered the beach.  Boys were free and Crystal paid 400 yen each.  Beautiful place.  Water was pretty chilly but extremely clear.  We definitely want to go back.  They had grills, jet skis, water trikes... all kinds of activities.

I wish this wasn't blurry... would've been super cute

tired out!

I wonder where we'll end up this week?
